It appears that some of the state's citizens haven't "evolved" much since 1925.

Comment on Quick justice for errant CEO

Pete, I really appreciate your comments on CEOs. You have had a lot of experience with this particular type of person, so who better to comment? CEOs should know better, but they are human like us all. Unfortunately, stupidity has a price. Especially when you run the place.

Comment on Quick justice for errant CEO

Well, first of all, "I've (as in I have) got five dollars..." is redundant. "I have five dollars" would be more correct. As for Mr. Baker's racist comments, the absence of condemnation from Tennessee Republicans is telling.

Comment on Racism has no place in a CEO's office

Hi, Michele. Thanks for your comments.

When it comes to religion or politics, I think it's usually ok to set them aside and work with people on the business issues you and they share in common. It's offensive of anyone - liberal, conservative, radical or reactionary - to make people uncomfortable about these issues in business settings.

I've personally been fortunate to have good business friends over a wide political spectrum who don't mind having a good debate on the issues and don't hold differing viewpoints against their business partners. That's a discovery made over time, however; it's not one to be forced in the early days of a business relationship.

Thanks again for taking time to comment.
Comment on Racism has no place in a CEO's office

I love your blog and the grammar tip is awesome since grammar is not my strong point.

I agree folks can use humor to cover their so called tracks and every one knows the intention. It is not funny and it is ALL telling.

Curious what do you do when networking and the people in your community are so outspoken about Obama to the point where you feel like if you do not keep quiet you will not be able to get business in such a conservative community?

Comment on Racism has no place in a CEO's office

He should be fired, period. There should be 0 tolerance not just for stupidity, but for egregious behavior unbefitting of a chief executive.
